BB Cream Review

Are all the ads and commotion about the new BB Cream or Blemish Balm cream worth it?

Recently, one of my friends advised me of using the new BB cream that everyone is going on about and to be honest, I have not regretted buying and using it. BB cream, or Blemish Balm cream is a hybrid between a tinted moisturizer and foundation that is being produced by many make-up brands including Maybelline, MAC, Clinique, Dior, Garnier, Smashbox, Too Faced, L'Oreal and many other trusted make-up brands. The brand I bought and will be reviewing is Maybelline BB Cream which comes only in 3 shades. BB cream is promoted to tackle a handful of skin concerns for  softer and clearer skin. Apparently, this cream that seems like a miracle in a tube, promises to:
(This reveiw applies ONLY to Maybelline BB cream as  I have not tried the other brands  yet)

  • Blurs imperfections
  • Brightens
  • Evens skin-tone
  • Smooths
  • Hydrates
  • Enhances
  • Protects with SPF 30
  • 0% oils and heavy ingredient

  • Blurs Imperfection

BB cream doesn't completely blurs the imperfection on my face. These imperfection include blackheads, pimples or scars. However it blurs pimple redness and after a week or so of using the cream, I noticed that some pimples and spots on my face began to lighten.

    Brightens

Yes,this cream does brighten your face making your skin a bit lighter and brighter, looking fresh and healthy. This cream would be ideal to those people who usually look sickly yellow to use daily.

    Evens Skin-Tone

Definitely! My skin tone goes light on my cheeks and dark around the edges of my face. however, when I started using this product, my skin tone began to even up. This cream also covers and reduces black circles around the eyes.

    Smooths

Yes. This product does moisturize your skin, leaving it softer and smoother.

Hydrates and has 0% oils and heavy ingredients

Not really. BB cream is a quite oily and shiny on my face. I brush my face lightly with powder to cover the shininess. Its not a very hydrating product either.

    Enhances

I'm not sure what it means by "enhances" but if it means making your face clearer and lighter than that's true.

    Protects with SPF 30

This product does protect with SPF 30 which makes it ideal for summer uses.

Overall: This product is ideal to put on before putting on heavier make up as it also works as a primer. This product also saves you so much money as it works as a sun screen, primer, tinted moisturizer and skin toner. I would give this product a rate of 7.5/10.

Tip: Brush your face lightly with powder so your face wouldn't look oily and shiny later in the day.
